What's going on?!

Just checked the current weather for Finland. Unfortunately it's unseasonably mild and set to continue that way for the forseeable future. +8 in Helsinki and even in Rovaniemi, at the arctic circle, it's +5 with no snow, almost unheard of for this time of year.

The Russian spy stuff was all over the news last weekend with most journalists blaming Putin, though he's never exactly been flavour of the month with the Daily Mail readers. I'd be surprised if Putin was behind it though, as he would probably go after bigger fish like Berezovsky. And to poison someone in such a bizarre way is calling out for media attention. Much better to shoot them in a bungled robbery or to have a nasty car crash which might make the bottom of page 16. I've never really understood why Putin gets such a bad press while Abramovic is portrayed as a decent and upstanding guy.

The reason, my friend, is due to the fact that Roman has socially based himself in this country. We are a country that will welcome people like him and in turn he will make himself untouchable, just like Murdock. Putin on the other hand does not have an influence on the domestic media. We are a state that is in contradiction to Russian politics and their lack of democracy. Plus, with all the disaffected Russians forced out like the guy killed there is a growing group in the uk that will want Putin out or put away. It did come as a suprise as must clandestine operations usually go unnoticed to the public. However, this was done by some group that wish to highlight the crime or the state of their cause. It will be interesting in the next few years when Putin's premiership in legally finished. He my opt to extend his time to secure a successor or he may change the constitution nevertheless never rule out the involvement of the military. In every major transition they have been involved. Do not buy share before this time as even Shell has had to take great finanical risk in securing its investment dispite its massive capital clout. My theory, off hand, I would have to say it could be two reasons 1. The Russian governement's attempt to stop other potential plotters or 2. A high profile PR exercise by groups or rich indivuals with a similar goal but whom are willing to kill their own allies. The outcome has been one, by foreign governments, to maintain the status quo which means when the game is played out to the full the only logical conclusion could be is the Russian Government as they are the only party in this that have come out with anything. That's a long and interesting statement.

I'd say the KGB and their successors - the FSB and the SVR have always had more influence in Russian politics than the military.

If/When Putin does go then that could be when a real hardliner comes into power...
